Praia dos Amores juts out from the Buzios peninsula. It forms one side of the cove that is Praia da Tartaruga. Praia dos Amores is so named because a lot of loving couples come here to isolate themselves from the rest of Buzios. The beach itself is a small strip of sand backed by a rather steep hill. To get to Praia dos Amores, you will need to perform some strenuous hiking starting at the neighbouring Praia do Canto from the right. If you'd rather not exert that kind of effort, you can get to Praia dos Amores by riding a water taxi or getting off at Amores beach from a schooner. Tickets for boat passage can be bought at the Buzios town centre for whole day passage, tours and single journey. You can also get passage directly from the crews of the boats.
To get to Praia dos Amores from the Buzios town centre, travel on the main road towards Praia do Canto which sits to the left of Armacao Beach. From Praia do Canto, follow the path heading towards Praia dos Amores or hop on board a schooner or water taxi at the shores of Praia do Canto. But before you do go there, you might want to bring some supplies.
If you think that you will find some small huts or shops over at Praia dos Amores, think again. There are no trees or large plants to offer shade on the beach of Amores. If you want to spend the day here, bring your supplies. The only way you can carry heavy materials easily is by boat. The materials can be off loaded near the shore. Land vehicles, even off road four wheel drives, will not be able to get to Praia dos Amores because of the steep hill that shelters the sands of Amores beach. Furthermore, the beach of Amores is an environmentally protected area by law. So, if you want to stay at the Amores beach, make sure that you bring out all the stuff that you brought in.
For those who want to spend their vacation time in some secluded area, Praia dos Amores is the perfect place to go to. Unfortunately, or perhaps, fortunately, there are no hotels or pousadas near the beach of Amores. What you can do is rent a room near Praia da Tartaruga or Praia do Canto. These two areas are the closest start off points to Praia Dos Amores.
