Praia do Canto is located between Praia dos Amores and Praia da Armacao. Praia do Canto is also close to the Buzios town centre which makes it an ideal relaxation spot for resting before or after a venture into the town of Buzios.
Despite the convenient location of Praia do Canto, you will find less people swimming in the waters of Canto beach than other more isolated beaches like Azeda or Joao Fernandes. This is a shame really because Canto beach has clean waters and clean beaches with many commercial establishments close by to provide whatever facilities are needed by visiting tourists. Perhaps the main reason for this is the rumour floating around that water run-offs from the town centre drain into the waters of Praia do Canto. To make matters worse, the government has done nothing to confirm or deny this rumour. Even so, people will occasionally swim in Praia do Canto because of its convenient location.
If we dig deeper into the reasons why Praia do Canto has lesser visitors than other nearby beaches, we can also paradoxically blame its location. Unlike Praia da Armacao and Orla Bardot, Canto beach is only near the town centre while Armacao beach and Bardot cove are right where the action is. Another drawback to the location is that, since it is near to the centre of Buzios, people looking for isolated beaches feel that Canto beach is not isolated enough. Being a beach in the middle of extremes, Praia do Canto is given only a passing glance while tourists search for more exotic locations.
People looking for isolated beaches are sure to pass-up on Praia do Canto because there are four or more other really isolated beaches in Buzios. Family vacationers should find Canto beach an ideal place to set down their umbrellas but the run-off rumours are not helping any. But if you wanted a place to relax, Praia do Canto is the place to go to.
Most of the population in Praia do Canto come to Canto beach to relax with a book or lie on a hammock while drinking cocktails. Others eat at the restaurants and cafés that line the sands of Canto beach to soak in the relaxing atmosphere. Aside from the general scenery, people at Praia do Canto are also treated to a colourful collage of anchored fishing boats near the shore. If wind conditions cooperate, you might even see some kite surfers taking advantage of the low population density in Praia do Canto.
Generally speaking though, Praia do Canto appears clean on the surface. There are very few instances where you will find litter on Canto beach. The sand itself is a little bigger in size than fine grain beach sand but is still comfortable enough to walk on with your bare feet. If you want to try looking for sea shells washed ashore, Canto beach is not the place do it. If you just want to plant an umbrella and lay a towel on the ground, you can do this easily by renting a beach umbrella from one of the stores lining Praia do Canto beach. The important part of this is that you get to really relax on your vacation; thanks to the gentle atmosphere at Praia do Canto.
