There are, unfortunately, not many Buzios guide books which deal only with the city of Buzios. However, there is a lot of travel literature on Brazil, and especially on Rio de Janeiro. If you are traveling anywhere in Brasil you can usually make use of one of these guidebooks, as they will have a section devoted to Buzios.
The most popular series of travel books for Brazil is the Lonely Planet guide books. The Lonely Planet Brazil guidebook gives general information about the entire country, and might be a little too general if you are looking for specific Buzios guide books. However, the Lonely Planet Rio de Janeiro guide book has a section devoted to Buzios, and here you will find maps, places to visit and the dates of various events such as Carnival and Mardi Gras that you won't want to miss!
Filled with color photographs, this is one of the most widely used Buzios guide books and has received many excellent book reviews. Along with the Lonely Planet Rio de Janeiro guide book you might also want to purchase the Lonely Planet Brazilian Portuguese Phrasebook. This little book contains all of the important words and phrases you will need to know to get around Buzios. Guide books do not often provide these, or tell first time visitors that virtually nobody in Buzios speaks any English!
Apart from the Lonely Planet guide books, which are sometimes criticized for only showing you the most commonly visited tourist attractions, you can also buy The Fodor's Brazil. This edition is slightly less expensive than the Lonely Planet guides, and actually contains a well-illustrated and comprehensive guide to Buzios. Guide books that deal with Brazil normally do not go into this much detail about Buzios, even though it is such a popular destination.
Last on the list of prominent Buzios guide books is the Frommer's Brazil. Also less expensive than the Lonely Planet, this provides one of the more useful Buzios guide books, but also gives the most detailed travel guidelines for the whole of Brazil. This book is recommended if you plan to make Buzios only one stop of your tour of Brazil.
One more book you might be interested in taking along with you is 'Culture Shock! Brazil' by Volker Poelzl. This book provides all the info you need to survive dipping into a completely foreign culture and come out smiling. Know exactly what to wear, what to say and what not to do on your trip to Buzios with this book.
